GeoHub Litoral

COASTAL GeoHUB

GeoHUB Litoral was born from the joint work of the Coastal Observatory, CIGIDEN and the UC Institute of Geography . It is a platform for geospatial data management around the coast of central Chile, which promotes sustainable development in the coastal zone and facilitates decision-making in territorial planning and risk management. Users, when downloading content from this site, must cite the author or institution that owns the corresponding data, information available in the metadata of each file.

How was GeoHub Litoral born?

It is an initiative developed by CIGIDEN and the purpose of which is to establish a bridge between the community and the different actors involved in coastal decision-making. This bridge is carried out through a data platform that allows the realization of collaborative projects.

What is the GeoHub Litoral?

It is a platform that contains a set of geospatial data capture, cataloging and visualization tools. This platform is built with ESRI’s HUB tools, which allows you to publish a site and interact with ArcGIS Online content.

The platform contains scientific data and data from government and public databases, which can be downloaded through an IDE-type catalog and viewed on thematic maps.

The platform also has ArcGIS collector, a tool that allows data capture from the territory. In addition, applications for cell phones and Story maps are integrated on specific themes of the territory that allow a dynamic and fast way of visualizing the information.

Who makes up GeoHub today?

Although GeoHub is made up of all those actors that interact with the platform, the development team is made up of researchers from CIGIDEN and the UC Institute of Geography. The project has been created and directed by academics Carolina Martínez Principal Investigator of CIGIDEN’s RL6 and Jorge Quense, of the UC Institute of Geography, with the support of CIGIDEN’s professional geographers Nikole Guerrero and Simón Inzunza.
